Modhera Sun Temple

Modhera Sun Temple is around 102 kms from Ahmedabad. We went there from Zainabad,  it took us one hour to reach there.
Modhera Sun Temple
The Sun temple was built by King Bhimdev of the Solanki dynasty in 1026 AD.  Prayers are not offered in this temple, as the idol of Sun God was stolen.  The temple was designed in such a way that the first ray of the sun fell on the idol of the Sun God at the time of Equinoxes. This temple is now under the supervision of Archaelogical survey of India.

As we entered the temple premises, we first came across a magnificient kund known as Ramakund, a large rectangular stepped tank containing 108 shrines of various Gods and demigods.
