Kalimpong

In 2013, we visited a very beautiful and small hill station, Kalimpong. It is located in the state of West Bengal. We went to New Jalpaiguri from Kolkata by train, and from there hired a cab to Kalimpong. On our way, we saw a bridge famously called Coronation bridge.

Holumba Haven, is the resort, we stayed in. The resort is beautiful and in amidst of nature. On a clear morning, one can even view the beautiful Mount Kachenjunga from the resort.

Our exploration of Kalimpong began with a visit to the Pineview Nursery (a Cactus nursery). The nursery was full of exotic Cactus collection.

We could see a stunning view of Kalimpong from the nursery.

Kalimpong is basically located in a ridge which connects two hills – Deolo and Durpin. At the top  of Durpin hill, is the Zang Dhok Palri Monastery. It was pious and peaceful inside the monastery.  We also saw the spectacular view of Kalimpong from the monastery.

Next stop was the Watershed View Point. This surely is the most picturesque golf course I have ever seen.

Dr. Graham’s Homes, one of the tourist spot, is a school established in 1900 by Dr. Anderson Graham. It is spread over 500 acres.

The most stunning and attractive place in Kalimpong is the Deolo hill. The views from Deolo hill are spectacular.

We also saw a Hanuman temple and a Buddha temple.

The last spot, we explored in Kalimpong was Triveni (The confluence of river Teesta and river Rangeet). Both are the major rivers of Sikkim. The confluence really gives a stunning view. The surrounding area is also eye-catching.

Teesta river is famous for its white water river rafting. Though, we didn’t go for rafting, we got some beautiful pictures of it from the Teesta bridge.

The trip to Kalimpong was really a memorable one.
